Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security system that requires two distinct forms of identification in order to access something.

Two-factor authentication can be used to strengthen the security of an online account, a smartphone, or even a door. 2FA does this by requiring two types of information from the user—a password or personal identification number (PIN), a code sent to the user's smartphone, or a fingerprint—before whatever is being secured can be accessed.1

Pre Requisite

When enabled for 2FA. The users will need their phone for the authentication application and their SimpleRent password beforehand to make the flow faster

1st time Login with 2FA activation

1. Open SimpleRent and Login.

2. User will be directed to a page with a QR code. Scan the QR code.

3. Input the passcode shown in the authenticator app and the SimpleRent password.

4. User will be provided with back-up codes - in case the authenticator application will be at risk. (Remember that the authentication app is a 3rd party application and these backup codes are a way to stay secure even when the 3rd party app becomes unserviceable)

(phone with the auth app needed)

1. Open SimpleRent and Login

2. Enter code from the authentication app and click on Submit.

Using a recovery code

1. Open SimpleRent and Login

2. Click on Use Recovery Code.

Note: The used code can not be utilized as a recovery code anymore.

When a recovery code was used, it will not be available for use the next time a recovery code is needed.

“We encourage you to save your recovery codes so you can still access your account if you lose your two-factor device. Without your recovery codes, recovering access to your account can take up to three business days.

Note: The used code can not be utilized as a recovery code anymore.
